When To Visit Ojochal
The best time to visit Ojochal is during the dry season, which runs from December to April. During this time, you’ll enjoy sunny days, warm temperatures, and ideal conditions for outdoor activities like beach outings, hiking, and wildlife tours. If you’re interested in whale watching, the best months to visit are July to October and December to March, when humpback whales migrate to the warm waters off Costa Rica’s coast. The green season (May to November) brings lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and occasional afternoon showers, making it a great time for those seeking tranquility and vibrant rainforest scenery.
How To Get To Ojochal
Ojochal is well-connected, offering a peaceful and scenic escape once you arrive! All in-country logistics are included in our vacation packages, which typically include some combination of private drivers, domestic flights, or rental cars – depending on your vacation package.
By Car:
- From San José: The drive takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. Start on Route 27 (Caldera Highway) from San José, then connect to Route 34 (Costanera Sur) toward the southern coast. Follow the signs to Uvita and then head south to Ojochal. The roads are paved, and while the drive is scenic, be prepared for some winding routes near the coast.
- From Manuel Antonio or Quepos: Ojochal is about a 2-hour drive south. Take Route 34 and continue south along the Pacific coast, passing Uvita before reaching Ojochal.
By Air:
- Domestic flights to Palmar Sur or Quepos are the nearest airports to Ojochal. From either airport, you can take a taxi to reach Ojochal, about 45 minutes to 1 hour away.
