Playa Cativo Lodge is an 18-room little hideaway in the Osa Peninsula region, one of the most unique and secluded destinations in Costa Rica. Looking out over the calm waters of the Golfo Dulce and surrounded by Piedras Blancas National Park, this boutique beachfront hotel is set on over 1,000 acres of private rainforest, leaving plenty of room for adventure!

The national park contains 140 mammal species, 367 bird species, and over 115 reptile species! This makes this location a great destination for those looking to venture out into the untouched rainforest for hiking, animal watching, and birding.
Playa Cativo Lodge Dining
Playa Cativo Lodge features El Gavilan Restaurant, where a romantic and private ambiance is the background for a la carte gourmet cuisine. Ranging from traditional Costa Rican food to fusion and international recipes, the menu features the best in organic produce – grown and harvested at the on-site farm! Expect to see organic poultry, locally caught seafood, and grass-fed beef, as well as delectable vegetarian choices featured on the menu. The El Gavilan also offers and great wine list, craft beers, and tropical premium cocktails.

Playa Cativo has recently added Boruca’s Bar with panoramic views of the ocean and jungle with incredible sunsets. El Gazebo is situated next to the freshwater pool.
Playa Cativo Facilities

Along with the restaurant, Playa Cativo has several facilities for guests to enjoy. The fresh-water pool is outdoors with stunning views overlooking the Golfo Dulce. The Natural History Library and Business Center contains hundreds of books perfect for those looking for a deeper understanding of the area’s flora and fauna! Last but not least, the gardens flourish under the tropical sun, attracting birds, butterflies, and a variety of other creatures. WiFi is available in all common areas and rooms.
The lodge also has a brand new spa called Lotus Wellness where wellness treatment can be experienced à-la-carte throughout your stay. Additionally, yoga and meditation sessions are available beneath a canopy of trees at one of the lodge’s three yoga decks.

This beachfront hotel offers a variety of room options for guests. All rooms feature Wi-Fi, ocean views, King-size beds, sofa or pullout beds, rain showers, biodegradable amenities, a coffee maker, binoculars, a flashlight, and safe boxes. Many of the rooms were constructed from reclaimed hardwood and local-crafted colorful tile works.
